The masthead image is from a photo that is believed to have been taken at the second Jensen family home in Foley Brook in 1904. Johan and Abelone are seated on the left, Andreas (Andrew) their son is standing in front, their daughter Johanne (Hannah) is beside Niels Peter their son and his wife Caroline (Laursen) who is holding her son Lawrence Richard. The children in front are probably Johan Edward and Henry Enoch, also children of Niels and Caroline. Welcome to the Jensen Connection

This website is intended as the meeting point for the descendants and relatives of Johan Peder Jensen and his wife Abelone (Mikkelsen) Jensen who emigrated from Denmark 125 years ago. Johan immigrated to the newly established community of New Denmark in the northwest corner of the province of New Brunswick in Canada in May 1881 to establish a foothold in the forest for a new life for his family. The following year in April, Abelone, with her seven children in tow and the youngest only 16 months old, packed up their remaining worldly goods in Vejle, Denmark and set sail for the new world and an unknown future.

Johan and Abelone never again saw the Danish relatives and friends they left behind but through very hard work and pioneer perseverance managed to establish a somewhat prosperous life as a farm family in New Denmark. Three more children were born in New Denmark for total of ten. These children went on and also prospered in making their own lives. Today, the descendants and relatives of this Jensen family are spread across North America and Denmark.

To honour the pioneering spirit and accomplishments of Johan and Abelone, we the descendants and relatives of this great family, are striving to keep the family spirit and memories alive by finding and keeping in touch with the present extended Jensen Family. In addition to this website, the Jensen Connection maintains a private Internet Discussion Group to enable easy and quick sharing of both family memories and recent news. Please feel to browse this website to determine if you may be tied to our family. If you do find a family connection, we would be very pleased if you would leave a comment to that effect on this site so that we may contact you and bring you back into the family fold.
