The masthead on this page is from a photo of Danish emigrants standing outside the New Denmark immigrant house about 1884. It is not known if Johan stayed in this house upon his arrival in New Denmark. However, since he had no friends or relatives preceding him, it is quite likely that he did stay here for a period of time.
